Using PWF machines without a password


The PWF provides several 'kiosk mode' accounts to enable users to access specific network facilities without logging in to their personal accounts.

There are three of these accounts, any member of the University is entitled to use them. They will work on any PWF machine that is not already set up to use kiosk mode. There are six email terminals in the basement please see the Facilities Available page for more information.

HERMES

The Hermes email system's web interface  may be accessed by logging into any PWF machine with the User ID HERMES and a blank password. This will take you to a login screen for Hermes and will allow your to read your email.

NEWTON

The University Library catalogue web interface  may be accessed by logging into any PWF machine with the User ID NEWTON and a blank password. This will take you  to the University Library's searchable web catalogue and will allow access to nothing else.

SIGNUP

This will take you to a web page from which you will be able to collect your Hermes, PWF and RAVEN passwords.
