How do I check that my anti virus software is current?

Once installed onto a networked comupter at home via broadband or through the Faculty or College network the anti virus software should update its self automatically. We do suggest that you check this every now and again just to make sure things are working ok. To check that the virus definition file is current do the following

On a PC

  • Check the following web site for the current version http://www-tus.csx.cam.ac.uk/virus/
  • Right mouse click on the V Shield in the system try (botton right hand side)
  • From the tool bar that appears click on VirusScan Console
  • From VirusScan window click on Help and then click on About
  • The Virus Definitions number should be the same as the Virus Definitions number that appears on the CS website listed above.

To update Virus Definitions file

  • Right mouse click on the V Shield in the system try (botton right hand side)
  • Click on Update Now...
  • This should initiate dowloading the current virus definition file

I don't see the V Shield?

  • Click Start > Programs > Network Associates > VirusScan Console > Help > About and compare them to the details listed on the CS web site above.
