Computing @ Law
The Computer Office is constantly reviewing facilities to keep up-to-date with modern technology to provide the best possible support for Academic and Administrative staff and students. Hybrid teaching is one of the areas the Faculty has been focusing on and our lecture theatres, seminar rooms and meeting rooms have all had their equipment upgraded.
The University has adopted Microsoft Office 365 to provide staff and students with a suite of tools that allows them to carry out their work and studies in a consistent and reliable manner. The computing staff at Law will help with support of these tools so that everyone can carry out their work in the most efficient manner possible.
Please use the information contained in the various pages on this site to help you with using the computing facilities at the Faculty. If you can't find the information you're looking for, please email or visit the Computer Office in S7.
Managed Computing Facilities
There are several publicly available machines in the Library areas, some of which have dedicated functions (such as Library catalog) but the majority of which are general purpose machines. Most are dual booting PC's (Windows 10, Ubuntu Linux). These computers are generically referred to as the MCS (managed cluster service) and are also available in Colleges and other Departments.
Printing
Student printing is via the DS-Print and Law_FindMe system that provides wired and wireless printing from your PC or laptop by using one of the three multifunction devices located around the Squire Law Library (these also provide a scanning and scan to USB function). When you print to Law_FindMe you can collect your printout from any of the multi-function devices as long as you have your University card with you or know your Raven credentials.
Wireless Access
Wireless access to the internet is provided by the UniOfCam and eduroam wireless services which are available throughout the building including the lecture theatres.
Getting Support
Help and support is available from offices S7 and S8 (second floor) during normal office hours or by email: computer.office@law.cam.ac.uk.
Further information on these services can be found using the menu links on the left of the screen.
